Assistant Librarian – CEPT Library, CEPT University

CEPT Library Services are responsible for the maintenance of the Lilavati Lalbhai Library and all of the resources it contains. It also supports faculty members and students in enriching the teaching, learning and research experience at the University.   The Lilavati Lalbhai Library’s mission is to share information with the community of users, advancing knowledge, and facilitating connection. The means by which researchers and scholars and students collect, access, and disseminate data, information, and research results will continue to develop as technology changes, using new ways of discovery and use, new mechanisms of collecting, storing, cataloguing and sharing information, and new forms of publishing.

CEPT University invites applications for the position of Assistant Librarian – CEPT Library. The position plays a crucial role in expanding the library’s engagement with the community, developing programs, and fostering partnerships to promote library services and resources to diverse populations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Catalogue and classify library resources in compliance with policies, procedures and processes of the library.
  • Support reference desk, and reference related services, and help user community with reference management tools.
  • Support digital initiatives of the library and help in upscaling the institutional repository.
  • Help in creating Library Guides, Subject Guides, and update Library Webpage.
  • Support with the development and delivery of information literacy instructional sessions to staff, faculty and students to enable them to conduct literature searchers.
  • Respond to user inquiries related to the library in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
  • Monitor the use of library resources, maintain up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive user records, and prepare and communicate overdue notices as and when needed.


Academic Qualification
 and experience required:

  • Master’s degree in library science or information science
  • 4 – 6 years of experience in a similar capacity is required.


Expertise Required: 

  • Proficiency in library management systems, cataloging methods, metadata standards, and information technologies.
  • Ability to develop repository (on DSpace, Eprints, etc) and knowledge of building metadata.
  • Proficient in using reference management tools.
  • Excellent communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with academic research methodologies and resources.
  • Strong commitment to supporting the academic mission of the university.
