 ABOUT THE COURSE

The Diploma in Library automation was introduced in January 1998 by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Library, University of Hyderabad. DLAN  aims at equipping the candidate in various operations of the Library Automation and Networking. The program enables the candidates to get hands-on-experience in Library Automation environment and networking aspects during the contact programme. At the end of the programme, the candidate becomes familiar with the planning,  organizing various Library Automation & Networking Operations and also the  techniques used in Library Automation & Networking.

  Course Work & Evaluation

COURSE MATERIAL: Centre for Distance Education of the University will arrange to supply the reading material  and assignment topics at the beginning of the course.  The study material has been prepared by eminent academicians and experts in the profession.  

EVALUATION: The  following evaluation system is designed to test systematically the student’s progress in the course offered – Internal Assessment (Assignments and Practical classes) -30 % ;   Contact Classes – 10 %; End Semester Examinations – 60 % .

  • ASSIGNMENTS: (Mandatory) As a part of Course Program, students need to submit their Assignments as per the guidelines supplied by the centre.
  • CONTACT CLASSES: (Mandatory) The contact classes will be held for about 10 days just before the beginning of semester examinations.  The participation in these classes carry weightage of 20% in the overall assessment of the student.  Attending contact classes in University of Hyderabad (No Study Centres any where else) is mandatory to write examinations.
  • PROJECT REPORT: (Mandatory) Student is required to submit a Project Report to the University before the end of the academic year.  The Student is expected to undertake the project of his/her choice  under the guidance of the senior manager of his  organization or an academic expert to be approved by programme coordinator.  The Project Report should be duly authenticated by the Project Supervisor.

AWARD OF DIPLOMA:  Provisional Certificate-cum memorandum of marks will be issued only after the student completes all course requirements: Attending contact classes and practical sessions; submission of Assignments; the written examinations and successful completion of project work. A student will be awarded a Diploma in Library Automation and Networking (DLAN) at the end on payment of Rs.500/- towards the final Diploma Certificate.

ADMISSIONS

ELIGIBILITY: Minimum of the  graduation in Library Science (B.L.I.Sc) from a recognized University.

Applications completed in all respects accompanied by copies of relevant certificates attested can be sent to the following address on or before the last date prescribed and announced by the CDVL.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:  The selection for admission to programme will be made on the basis of merit-past academic record and professional experience of the candidates.

ADMISSION INTIMATION: The candidates selected for admission will be intimated by mail / post individually under certificate of posting and also through the email (addresses if provided to the CDVL office) The list of selected candidates will also be displayed on the notice board at the Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning. Students found eligible will be issued Provisional admission letter.

        Only the students who pay the fees within the stipulated date are treated as admitted. Student who has paid his Course fee will be issued of enrolment number with the identity card.

COURSE FEES & PAYMENTS

       Prospectus – Cum – Application Fee: Rs. 350/-

       Registration Fee: Rs. 300/- (for Applications download from the website)

       (To be paid through Demand Draft obtained from any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of “The Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad” payable at Hyderabad).

       The details of the Student i.e. Name of the student; Course applied; Mobile No.; E-mail  should be given on the reverse side of the Demand Drafts before  submitting in the CDVL office.
