The course imparts in-depth knowledge on basic concept and scope of ICT, its associated technologies and their evolution. The course also elaborates on various contemporary programming languages and their levels. It elaborates upon computer networks their types, topologies, switching techniques, media and devices, network standards and protocols. Data networks and digital technologies that are used for developing integrated service such as ISDN, ATM, DSL, etc. are dealt with in details.It touches upon major threats and challenges to network security and software and hardware solutions available for it. It imparts knowledge on Web 2.0 tools and techniques that can be used to create a collaborative and participative environment amongst users and library and on semantic web and process of delivering high level services using semantics properties of information. During the course you will learn about library automation, integrated library management software packages and its functional modules including acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials control and OPAC. It also elaborates on retro-conversion of bibliographic records and use of RFID in libraries.
Dr. Usha Mujoo Munshi, a Fulbright scholar is currently with Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) as head of its library. She has over 155 research publications and a few books to her credit. Recipient of several national and international awards which include Raizada Memorial Award, for Young Information Scientist of the Society of Information Science (SIS); SIS Fellowship; Fulbright Fellowship; ASSIST International Best Paper Award by ASSIST, USA. Recently she has been elected as a member of Data Policy Committee of CODATA, International Council for Science (ICSU).
