Scholarship for Library and Information Science Students/Research Scholars to Attend India Public Libraries Conference 2017 to be held on 3-5 October 2017 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India
1. IPLC Scholarship
On the occasion of IPLC 2017, the IPLM Secretariat is pleased to announce 50 “IPLC 2017 Scholarships” for Library and Information Science students and research scholars to attend the conference on 3-5 October 2017 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
2. Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is open to all students/research scholars pursuing Master’s/M. Phil/Ph. D in Library and Information Science in any UGC recognised Indian University.
3. How to Participate
The interested students and research scholars have to submit an essay on any one of the following topics:
- The advantages of a unified public library system in the creation of knowledge society
- Potential of public libraries as a model for the convergence of diverse government programmes and schemes
- Financing of public libraries: innovative approaches
The essay should be limited to 2500 words (plus or minus 100 words) and properly formatted. Essays exceeding or falling short of the given word limit would not be considered. The participants have to provide their details in the IPLC 2017 Scholarship Form attached with this announcement as Annexure I. They should send the essay along with the Scholarship Form complete in all respect to Shipra Sharma, Senior Manager, Research & Documentation, IPLM Secretariat at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. 4. Last Date of Essay Submission
The last date of essay submission along with the IPLC 2017 Scholarship Form with all required information is 08 September 2017. Please note that entries received after the last date of submission and without the Scholarship Form will not be considered.
5. Selection Process
A team comprising of acclaimed LIS academicians and senior public library professionals would evaluate the essays on five broad parametres:
- Structure of the essay
- Innovative ideas
Only top 50 essays would be selected from all over India. The decision of the IPLM evaluation team would be treated as final in this respect. No queries whatsoever would be entertained once the results are declared on IPLM website: www.iplm.in.
6. Communication from IPLM to Scholarship Winners
The results of IPLC 2017 Scholarship will be declared by 15th September 2017. The names of winners will be put on the IPLM website: http://www.iplm.in. The winners will also receive a communication from IPLM Secretariat at their given Email IDs regarding their selection, travel and logistics arrangements.
The unsuccessful students/scholars would not be informed separately. If any student/scholar’s name does not appear on the list posted on IPLM website, and they don’t hear from IPLM Secretariat by the first week of September 2017, they may assume that they have not been successful this time. 7. The Scholarship includes the following:
- Participation in IPLC 2017 on all three days (train fare from university/home town to Delhi and back will be provided by IPLM Secretariat)
- Boarding and lodging facilities in Delhi for three nights
- Conference kit
- Certificate of participation
- Preference in IPLM volunteering/internship opportunities
